You have 90 days to appeal a 3SquaresVT (food stamps) decision. You can make the request by telling your worker or a supervisor, but it is better to give it to the Department for Children and Families' Economic Services Division (DCF/ESD) in writing.
You can call 1-800-479-6151 to speak with the designated person in your local District office of the Department for Children and Families about your problem and to request an appeal. Sometimes just making this phone call can resolve the issue without an appeal!
You can also request an appeal in a handwritten or printed letter. Write the date on the letter and make a copy for yourself. You can bring your appeal to your local DCF district office.
Or you can mail it to:
DCF - Economic Services Division
Application and Document Processing Center
280 State Drive
Waterbury, VT 05676-1500
After you submit your appeal, you will receive notice about a fair hearing from the Human Service Board. The board has the power to overturn the DCF decision. Your notice will tell you the date and place of the fair hearing.
