Washington County residents have reported receiving phone calls claiming to be from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office stating that the person missed jury duty and there is a citation out for their arrest. They were given instructions to use MoneyGram to send money for bail.
These calls are not legitimate court notices.
If you get a telephone call like this, do not provide any confidential information or send money. You should notify the Superior Court Clerk in your county about the call and also tell the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 802-223-3001.
