Save money and buy higher-value insurance in 2025
Many Vermonters can get health insurance plans with lower premiums and out-of-pockets costs in 2025.
The Vermont Health Connect open enrollment period for 2025 runs from November 1, 2024, to January 15, 2025. During this time, you can buy a health plan or switch to a different plan. Visit healthconnect.vermont.gov to:

- compare plan options.
What to know:
- Compare prices between insurance companies: MVP prices are lower than BlueCross BlueShield of Vermont (BCBSVT) in 2025. If you have a BCBSVT plan, you may find a similar or equal MVP plan for less money. If you want to switch, check that your doctors will be in-network, and your medications will be covered.
- Look at “gold” plans: This year, gold plans will have a lower monthly premium than silver plans. Almost everyone should consider buying a gold plan in 2025. The only people who should not switch to gold are those who have high cost-sharing reduction plans like Silver 94 or Silver 87.
- Automatic enrollment: Some Vermonters will be automatically renewed onto a gold plan in 2025. You will get a notice from your insurance carrier (BCBSVT or MVP) about this change. Even those who are automatically renewed should compare prices. Most MVP plans will be less expensive in 2025 and offer the same coverage as BCBSVT.

- Shop for a better plan! Look carefully at the gold plans, which are cheaper this year and offer better coverage (lower deductible and co-pays).
- Review your eligibility for financial help. Most Vermonters will qualify for more help paying for plans.
