Explore Ways to Get Help with Heat
There are a few programs in Vermont that may help you heat your apartment, condo, mobile home or house this winter. We list some below.
We describe the programs in detail on our Heat, Energy and Water Assistance Programs page. Visit that page to see if you are eligible.
The Fuel Assistance program is also known as home heating assistance or the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). It can help pay part of your home heating bills. It’s available to low-income tenants and homeowners.
If you use natural gas, the Vermont Gas Energy Assistance Program is for low-income customers of Vermont Gas Systems.
If you use electric, the Green Mountain Power Energy Assistance Program is for low-income customers of GMP.
See our Heat, Energy and Water Assistance Programs page for details and how to apply. We list other programs, too, including:
- help fixing or replacing a fuel tank
- weatherization help
- help fixing a failed or inadequate water or wastewater system
- help with water bills.
