April 29 is Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

On Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., health departments and drug disposal sites around the country will join the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to hold National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. It provides a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs.

Most people who abuse prescription painkillers get them from friends or family – often straight out of the medicine cabinet. By getting rid of prescription drugs that you don't need, you can help make sure drugs don't get into the wrong hands, or pollute our waterways and wildlife.

Find a list of disposal sites, which include police stations and pharmacies, at the Vermont Department of Health website. There are also year-round drug disposal sites in Vermont.
