Vermont Legal Aid and Legal Services Vermont hold free Advance Planning Workshops around the state. Our next workshop is scheduled for:

  • No events planned at this time.

Workshops are held at locations across Vermont. We will add those locations and dates to this web page as they become available.

You will be able to meet with a lawyer and complete a simple will, a financial power of attorney and a medical advance directive. These are important documents used for looking ahead and planning for the future. We can also discuss long-term Medicaid planning.

To qualify for these workshops, you must be 60 years old or older and you must be a Vermont resident. There are also some income and asset restrictions.

Call us at 1-800-889-2047 to sign up for the Advance Planning Workshops for seniors. Advance registration is required and space is limited.

Please sign up before the workshop so you have time to complete a questionnaire with information you need to fill out your documents. This includes information about your family, who you want to carry out your wishes, and the personal property, residences and assets you own. You will be able to appoint someone to serve as a guardian if you have minor children, someone to manage your finances, and someone to make medical decisions when you become unable to do so. Please plan ahead and contact those individuals before deciding to appoint them.

We can be most helpful if you bring the names and addresses of anyone you want to name as an agent or beneficiary.

We cannot help walk-ins with drafting documents. However, we will give information and advice.
