Application to Waive Filing Fees and Service Costs (IFP)

If you cannot afford a court filing fee, use this form. The clerk may be able to waive the fee for you so you don’t have to pay.

If you are filing your own case in court, or you are responding to a lawsuit against you and are filing counterclaims, there will be a fee to file your case with the court. (Normally paid to “Vermont Superior Court.”)

If you cannot afford this fee, bring this form with you to the court house or send it to the court with your complaint or counterclaim. The court clerk may be able to waive the fee for you so you can file your court documents at no charge. This form used to be called an IFP. Learn more about getting your fees waived.
